TAEKWONDO SECTION

Taekwondo In-charge : Md. Nooruddin

Taekwondo Co-ordinator : Md. Kaif Mullick

The Taekwondo Section in the Muslim Institute started in 2020 on initiative taken by Mr. Md. Nooruddin, Library Secretary of the Muslim Institute. He had been very vocal for starting self-defence classes in the Muslim Institute. After elaborate discussion with the General Secretary of the Muslim Institute, Mr. Nisar Ahmed and other executive members, the Taekwondo classes started from December 2020.

The journey of Taekwondo Section in the Muslim Institute from Dec. 2020 till now has been a roller coaster one, due to the emergence of Covid-19. The Taekwondo classes when started had only 18-19 students but with the tireless efforts of our Coach Mr. Asad Ahmed and Vice-coach Mr. Hussain, the strength of the students has risen to above 100. The classes of Taekwondo used to be held on every Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 for both boys and girls, but due to the rising strength of the students we have divided Taekwondo classes in two shift (1st Shift from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 2nd Shift from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon)

These students were trained and guided under the able coaches of Taekowndo section Mr. Asad, Mr. Hussain and Mr. Rizwan.
In February, 2024, around 65 pcs of Taekwondo mats have been received at the Muslim Institute. The mats were bought by our coach Master Asad. His dedication and efforts towards Taekwondo classes being held in the Muslim Institute is remarkable. The Muslim Institute have become one of the few institutions / organisations which has these self-bought mats in whole West Bengal.
Every class we are thriving to give the best coaching to the students with better facilities to practice and learn the skills. Soon we are planning to hold State Level Taekwondo Championship in The Muslim Institute and also planning to bring another round of mats for the students in order to enhance their practice.
Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to all Executive Members, Sub Committee Members, and Staff for their support in fulfilling my duties.
