The Education Sub-Committee of The Muslim Institute has been endeavoring to nurture the potential of the students and prepare them for a better future. The students are guided in a manner that they are able to face the challenges of the academic and competitive studies and excel in pursuit of their career.

The Education Sub Committee also pays homage to the luminaries who have worked for the educational upliftment of the Muslims and familiarise their contributions to the people. Individuals and organisations working in the field of education in Bengal are also felicitated to acknowledge their contributions and inspire others.

The Education Sub Committee carried out its proposed programmes which were greatly beneficial for the students and were highly appreciated by all.

The details of the activities and programmes conducted by the Education Sub Committee during the period of April 2023 and March 2024 are being given below for the perusal of the members.
1. A Counselling Programme for the H.S 2023 passed students about the choice of subjects and admission process in various the Colleges was organised on the 1st June 2023. The students were apprised about the various stages of admission process and how to make the choice of subjects for the graduation course. A large number of students got benefitted by this counselling programme.
2. A Career Counselling programme titled " Career in Law and How to Prepare for LLB" was held in the Mohsin Hall of the Muslim Institute in association with SAKET on 9thJune2023. Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan, Associate Professor, WBNUJS, a man on the mission to create awareness about career in law, explained in details the various avenues a law graduate can explore. Two other advocates from SAKET, Shama and Kulsum,informed the students about Law Colleges under Calcutta University and how to prepare for the entrance test for the LLB course. Advocate Jahan Ara,a former student of the MI coaching,was also present.The speakers answered the queries of the enthusiastic participants in the end. Honorary General Secretary,Nisar Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks.
3. Facility for filling Online application form for admission to various Colleges was provided free of cost. The process went on for a week. The Honorary General Secretary personally monitored it. About 30 students availed the facility.
4. The Inaugural Programme of the MI Intensive Coaching for Class XII (Arts and Science) was held on 22nd July 2023. The coaching which has been running successfully for the last several decades, was conducted from July 2023 to January 2024. Experienced and proficient teachers were engaged.To run the coaching efficiently,a coaching coordinator was appointed. A nominal fee of Rs 2000/ only was charged for the 7 months coaching. Constant monitoring of the coaching, feedback from teachers and students, meeting with guardians, periodical tests and two full mock tests before the exam helped the students and a better result is expected.
Alongwith the academic subjects,one day of the week was devoted to the Personality Development and Career Guidance. The spoken English, Bengali language classes, General Knowledge Classes and Career Counseling were held on Saturdays. The students got acquainted with the career prospects and improved their communication skills.
5. The students of the Muslim Institute Coaching celebrated Teachers Day in the Computer Room on 5th September 2023.
6. A Coaching for the recruitment of Sub Inspectors and Sergeants in Kolkata Police and Sub Inspectors in Food Supplies Department was conducted. The Inaugural Programme was held on 23rd September 2023. The coaching. continued till January 2024. About 25 students joined this coaching
7. On the occasion of the 206th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Sir Syed Day Programme was held in the Quader Nowaz Hall.
Honourable Mr Justice Ashim Kumar Roy ,Lokayaukta, West Bengal graced the Programme as the Chief Guest.
Professor Achin Chakraborty, Director Institute of Development Studies Kolkata delivered the Extension Lecture.
A host of dignitaries, notable among them, Mr Azar Zia, IAS, Mr Shakil Ahmed, IAS, Mr Nizam Shamim, IPS (R), Mr Sk Md Kalimuddin, DCP,Kolkata Police, Mr Namroz Khan, DCP, KP, Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan, Associate Professor, WBNUJS, attended the programme.
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Award For Excellence in Education" was presented to Kazi Muhammad Yasin Secretary, Mamoon National School, Kolkata Educational and Charitable Trust (KECT) and Md. Ziauddin Hyder , Secretary, Milli Educational Organisation.
8. The students of Class XII Coaching of Muslim Institute were taken to Indian museum for an educational excursion. The teachers of the coaching accompanied them and guided them to the various sections which enriched students' learning very much.
9. On occasion of National Education Day, a speech competition was held among the students of Class XII Coaching. The topic was, " The role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in Modern Indian Education "
10. Children Day Programme was held on 14th November 2023 to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Prizes for the Speech Competition held on the National Education Day on 11th November 23, were handed over to the winners, runners and second runners up. The other participants were also given consolation prize.
11. A Lecture titled"Climate Change & Global Warming and Biodiversity Loss" was delivered by Mr Anwar Saeed Malihabadi on 13th January 2024. The students response was very encouraging.
12. Combined Coaching Classes for Miscellaneous Services Exam Clerkship Exam was conducted. The Classes were held on Saturday and Sunday. Officers and Experienced teachers were engaged. The Inauguration Programme was held on 4th February 2024.
13. Farewell Ceremony for the students of Class 12 Arts and Science Coaching was held on 5th February 2024.
The teachers of different subjects gave valuable tips for facing the exam and scoring good marks in the Higher Secondary Exam.
The students who got the highest marks in the Monthly Tests conducted till date, were given Merit Prizes.
Besides, the students who showed remarkable discipline, displayed leadership qualities and maintained almost cent percent attendance, were also awarded.
The remaining students also received a gift of file, stationery and a General Knowledge book.
14. The Competitive Mind Quiz, Motivation & Guidance and Felicitation of the Successful Candidates of WBCS and WBA&AS was held on 3rd March 2024 in the Quader Nowaz Hall.
The Quiz witnessed one of the biggest gatherings of the Aspirants of Civil Services and other Exams. It drew participants from the districts as far as Bankura and Birbhum. The Quiz Competition was not only exciting but also highly rewarding. The top three winners walked away with the cash prize of Rs 5000, 4000 and 3000 respectively with individual mementos.
The WBCS and WBA&AS officers who have successfully competed and have joined or about to join service were brought face to face with a gathering of over 200 Aspirants. Amir Ali , Atia Rahman ,WBPS officers, Mahtab Alam , Asif Khan , Md Javed, Md Sohail, Sabiya, Atufa Shakeel, Anzar Anwar, WBA&AS officers shared the story of their success and motivated the aspirants.
The President of the Muslim Institute, Mr Md Nadimul Haque, MP graced the occasion and felicitated the Achievers.
The Vice President Omar Khan, Honorary General Secretary Nisar Ahmed, AGS Nazrul Islam played the role of perfect host. Other Executive Committee Members and Education Sub Committee members were also present.
We would like to make special mention of inspiration, support and guidance extended by the President Md Nadimul Haque and the Honorary General Secretary Nisar Ahmed. The Honorary Assistant General Secretaries Dr Nayeem Anis and Sk.Nazrul Islam alongwith other members of the Executive Committee contributed with their help and suggestions for making the programmes successful. Dr Khalid Md Saifullah ,the Chairman of the Education Sub-Committee greatly motivated the team by his wise advices and presence during the programmes. Md Nooruddin, Rezaul Haque Shamsi, Jawaid Akhtar, Sajid Pervez, Kaif Mallick, Md Rafey Mahmood Siddiqui, Rashid Jamil, Nadim Hossain, Asif Kalam, Dr Junaid Jibran Javed, Ahmed Farooque, Huzaifa Arshad the members of Education Sub-Committee fulfilled their responsibilities to the best of their ability and kept the team enthusiastic and energetic.
We pray to Allah that He keeps the team motivated so that we can facilitate the educational development of the students' community and help them reach their destination. We shall try to organise more beneficial programmes and add new feathers in the crown of our historical organisation, The Muslim Institute.
